Shocked, Confused and Bewildered

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,

Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor,

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--

The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics, the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.

Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,

Sitting pretty on cloud nine,
And looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.

How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

And why's everyone so quiet,
So somber? Give me a clue."

Paul Smith, the man with extraordinary talent was born in Philadelphia on September 21, 1921 with severe cerebral palsy. Not only had Paul beaten the odds of a life with spastic cerebral palsy, a disability that impeded his speech & mobility but also taught himself
to become a master artist on the typewriter, using only two fingers. As his mastery of the typewriter grew, he developed techniques to create shadings, colors, and textures that made his work resemble pencil or charcoal drawings."
This great man passed away on June 25, 2007, but left behind a collection of his amazing artwork that will be an inspiration for many.

"On The Slope"

Invisible Artist

I took this photo October of 2006 in the window of the camp that I call home, while working on the North Slope in Alaska. I took the photo hoping to catch the orange glow in the frost from the setting sun, which during this time of year is not visible for very long. It was not until I downloaded the photos onto my laptop, that I discovered the images of two hummingbirds in the frost. The images appeared on the inside pane of a double pane window. Very strange indeed. I would love to receive some comments on this one.

It matters not if we are black, red, or white,

rich or poor, we have all earned the right.

Memories of an old Hippie

Hula-hoops were all the rage
and Vietnam was just a baby,
Johnson had just turned that page
the draft was just a maybe.
Penny loafers, saddle shoes
and Manilow sang "Mandy"...
Cuba was in all the news
when Castro looked just dandy!
Hippies were just gettin' high...
and Jane was Barbarella
and Peter had an easy ride
with that Nicholson fella.
The country reeled with sadness
at the assassination
that bred a lotta madness
which spread across the nation.

Drops of rain like
tiny strings of diamonds,
clinging cold and lifeless
to all the twigs and branches
outside my kitchen window,
in the ghetto,
in my hometown...
each drop so fragile,
glistening in ignorance
of the onslaught of the next
to disrupt its fleeting
resting point,
and send it
to the earth, or...
to splash into a puddle,
individuality forgotten
like the tiny string of diamonds
life is a fleeting memory.

or thank you my brother... the most important part.
He stands there in uniform smiling in a post by Bren;
handsome young today warrior, proud, a hero, that is Jim.
He went to be a soldier and protect us with his service,
He gladly offered his life to stand for the freedom of our land.
our country called for braves, he heard and he gave his hand.
To all our relations Jims BlackHawk took him home...
It was a good day to die and with honor here he left us,
but see him up there watching in the nighttimes sky glow?
when you miss him look up, the stars appear at dusk-
His name is now written in the sky look- you will see him!

I am a simple woman, not into extremes yet blessed in the
knowing that all things are very simple if one would look at them
in such a way.

education would bring but in the education that my walk had

Higher Power can fund to me.

others who have made choices in their lessons that would seem
less than good according to their piers.
I am a simple woman, not into pushing my beliefs onto those who
have their own entirely different beliefs yet choosing to respect
them for having a belief and expecting to receive the same respect.
I am a simple woman, not into artificial and superficial souls who
would make fun of those less fortunate and knowing that they,
themselves will face the same adversity in their lesson at some
point.
I am simply a Woman...

much to do - frozen in place
so much is written and overlooked
taken for granted - passes by

sidewalks are crowded
streets are over-driven
life not lived - dictated by greed of the moment
going on with the business of selfishness

life is now war
war - the way of life
steadying the next unsung hero
to fall for greed of government

scars that won't heal
pain - ever present
echoes of those lost
and those sent to rescue

nothing to bring home
but skeletons of time present
from bodies longing for time past

Glimpse of memory taunts my soul
Takes me to a place I've once known
Feeling a sense of familiarity
It's clearly been a reality
A flash of a memory I've experienced before
Only not in this life, but of long ago
Could it be reincarnation or just deja vu?
A revelation from God? or fragments of dreams that
Will remain a mystery as to why
A glimpse of memory returns to my mind

The true measure of love is not what you receive
It is what you are willing to let go of
There is not a single "I" in love
It is lost in the growing we-ave

As the weave becomes a stronger knit
The colors adjust and blend
What once was a beginning,now has no end
The we-ave that binds,becomes a perfect fit

I have found that if love is to survive
Diligence and patience is a must
hold tightly to the strands of "we' and "us'
And let go the "me's" and "I's"
